Frankenweenie ::

Tim Burton's latest creation Frankenweenie is a black and white stop motion feature taken from his 1984 short by the same name.

It follows the story of young Victor Frankenstein (Charlie Tahan) and his love his dog Sparky who tragically dies. With getting the idea from his science teacher Mr. Rzykriski (Martin Landau) he creates life from death with "lightening, boom and ssssssss...".

The black and white creates a dark emotional feel to parts of the film but is balanced out by quirky humor.

Winona Ryder stars as the voice of Victors neighbour Elsa Van Helsng, Martin Short and Catherine O'Hara as Mr. and Mrs. Frankenstein. Most voices are also used for other characters through out the film.

Frankenweenie appears to get back to old school Tim Burton style which is great, has a lot of character in the detail and also shows how he has furthered an idea he created some time ago.

Frankenweenie is released in cinemas in Australia 25th October through Disney Pictures in 2D and 3D.
