ParaNorman ::

ParaNorman is the new stop motion film from Laika, who bought you 2009's Coraline. Norman is no ordinary boy; he can speak to the dead. He is misunderstood and is called a freak {as he can see ghosts}, until he is the only one that can help save his town from an old curse.

The sound track gives a cheesy 80's zombie flick feel that works well with the films aesthetics. Norman is voiced by young Australian actor Kodi Smit-McPhee plus other voices from Casey Affleck, Anna Kendrick and John Goodman, what else is there to love.

The attention to detail is amazing (as is the amount of time put in) with stop motion films; the small clothes, various facial expressions, detailed sets. There should be more films like this created, there is a real art to it. It has a similar eerie feel like Coraline did and is unique in its own way.

The Melbourne International Film Festival has another screening on Saturday 18th August in 3D, you can find more information here and the official Australian release date is September 20th.
