Dark Shadows ::

Tim Burton's latest film creation is Dark Shadows, based on a television series during the 1960's - 70's by the same name.

Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp) returns to his family home after 200 years of being locked away by the witch Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green) who also cursed him to be a vampire. He then decided to rebuild the family's fishing business.

Michelle Pfeiffer plays Elizabeth Collins Stoddard; one of the relatives living in the Collingwood mansion, with her daughter Carolyn played by Chloë Grace Moretz. Along with Elizabeth’s brother, his son, and the new Governess Victoria Winters (Bella Heathcote) the house hold is a bit of a weird one when put together.

Plus appearances by Christopher Lee and Alice Cooper as himself adds a bit more creepiness and familiarity with Lee one of Burton’s regulars as well as Helena Bohnam Carter who plays the drunken Dr. Julia Hoffman.

Though not having seen the original television series, it is hard to compare it too; it had its humour, and dark scenes which Burton always delivers on.

Dark Shadows (M) is now showing across Australia, check local cinemas for session times.
