Looking for Faeries: the Victorian tradition

Looking for Faeries: the Victorian tradition is an exhibition currently on at the Bendigo Art Gallery that shows more than 160 works that "reflect upon the imagination and extraordinary legacy of the Victorian fairy tradition."


From watercolor, ink & pen to paintings, sculpture and original print books on display there to let your inner child take in. Included in the works displayed were May Gibbs prints, reproduction photographs of The Cottingley Fairies by Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths, Ida Rentoul Outhwaite books and Fredrick McCubbin oil paintings.

A full color catalgue is also available for $19.95.

Film & Afternoon Tea :: Fairy Tale: A True Story.
2pm, Saturday 13th November @ The Star Cinema

"To coincide with the current exhibition Looking for Faeries: the Victorian tradition, Bendigo Art Gallery and the Star Cinema present a film based on factual accounts - the story of Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths who in 1917 photographed winged creatues in their garden in Cottingley."
